All Fairtrade certified cotton is grown with a greater emphasis on the protection of the environment. The use of many harmful chemicals is prohibited and farmers are encouraged to use more natural methods to control pests and improve yield. Carbon Footprint

Because our cotton is sourced from some of the world's poorest countries, it does have some miles to travel before it gets to us. However, we make every effort to ensure that our cotton does not travel unnecessarily and that it does not travel by air (the most environmentally-damaging form of transport in terms of carbon emissions). For delivery of your purchases, we have deliberately chosen to use the normal postal service, to avoid unnecessary journeys being made by couriers. Having researched the subject in detail, we believe that this is the most practical and environmentally friendly method of delivery.

The Manufacturing Process

We endeavour to ensure that the manufacturing process is as environmentally friendly as possible. The most important processes from an environmental perspective are the bleaching and dyeing work.
All of this work for our products occurs in Europe within the strict European regulations, so you can be sure that all care is taken to use safe chemicals and prevent pollution of water courses.
This work for many of our products is certified for its environmentally friendly nature. Some examples of the extra care taken during the manufacture of our products are:

Most of our products are optically whitened without the use of Chlorine.
Furthermore, these products are not chemically or artifically softened and non-stick coatings are not used etc.
Low consumption or natural dyes are used on all our products and waste is recycled where possible and treated where not.
